Fiberglassing

Finally! I brought everything to the point where I have only to fiberglass and paint rudder and centerboard, and install motor mount. Wow. Cannot believe it. Almost there.
Fiberglassing is a messy business. The best way to do it is to apply coat of resin then dry cloth over with resin, then two more coats of resin to give you some "meat" for sending. It is a long, messy and painful process. Anyway, here are some of the pics of my process.

Replacing Lines and some other small fixes

I finally got around to replace all old lines with the new ones. All lines replacement $72 at WestMarine. Also had missing two battens. Made those from the paint sticks at Home Depot. Costs: $0. Both sails inspected and washed. They are in very good condition. Added telltales to both.

Trailer is done!

Finished all repairs on the trailer. Now, trailer is ready to be towed on the long trips without any problems. Boat is back on it. All hardware (besides rudder and centerboard) are put back in the place. All missing screws replaced and tightened. Also, our boat got his name sticker, finally.

New - Old Trailer Comparison

Finally I started adding other parts to the painted trailer.




Only thing left to be done is to wrap boards into carpet. They are selling for $69 a piece. I got 2x4's from Home Depot and will be using some old piece of carpet I have. Total cost $4.



New submersible lights installed.



New complete wheel hubs and new wheel ready to be installed. Spindle nut was not in the kit, so I had to order new one online as the old one was not good anymore.

I took old wheel hub and welded it on the frame. Will use it to attache spare tire. Similar spare tire holders are selling for $79 at West Marine.... Cost: just welding wire and some electricity.

Trailer Painting Done

Finally got couple of days without rain to finish painting. Here are couple of pics of painted trailer.

Trailer Work

Boat is finally off the trailer. We were able to pull it off with only two people. Boat is not really that heavy. Now is in the position to get a new centerboard gasket.
Here are the pics of the trailer stripped down and sanded, ready to get a new paint. New boards with new nuts were installed as well.
